"my dear husband and I have an ongoing feud. I put the syrup in the cupboard, he puts it in the fridge. The war rages on."
Many people shared their opinions, and I still think all you keep-your-syrup-in-the-fridgeys are nutty, though I still love you!
So tell me, fridge or cupboard...and why? Because honestly (and really...don't tell my hubby) I don't know why I even dislike the syrup in the fridge to begin with. So while I am trying to figure this out, read about these scrumptious chocolate waffles. They are easy and delicious!
2/3 C flour
1/3 C corn starch
1/4 C unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 t baking powder
1/2 t baking soda
1/4 t salt
1/8 t cinnamon
6 T granulated sugar
1 C milk
1/3 C vegetable oil
1 egg
1 1/2 t vanilla
1/2 C mini chocolate chips (optional)
Preheat your waffle iron.
Whisk flour, cornstarch, cocoa powder, baking powder and soda, salt, and cinnamon.
In a separate bowl whisk together sugar, milk, oil, egg, and vanilla. Whisk for a minute so it gets a little frothy like this!
Slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry, mixing until just combined to make sure you don't over mix to get tough waffles. Then add your chocolate chips.
Pam the waffle iron, then ladle the batter in, making sure to evenly distribute the chocolate chips.
Cook until crispy (or just until your little waffle light goes off), and keep in a warm oven until ready to serve.
Serve with peanut butter, nutella, or piping hot syrup and butter.
Oh, and let me know how you like your syrup!
